Today in Indian Premier League 16th match, Kings XI Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings in IPL -3 first super Over. This match winner was decided after both tied at equal runs by a Super Over.
Kings XI Punjab gave a target of 137 runs for Chennai Super Kings. It was looking easily achievable until Skipper Raina got runout in the game. this wicket was the game changer for Punjab XI and with good bowling attack, they managed a tie with CSK.
CSk tail enders succumbed to Punjab bowlers and they got out one after the another. AT the last over, Ashwin was at batting crease and required run was 1 out of 2 deliveries. First he missed once and second he got caught by Mohammed Kaif.
This followed, IPL 3 first Super over elimination round. This was the super over rule- Each team will pick three batsmen, and get to face six balls, from the nominated bowler. They can lose two wickets at the most, and the team that scores more takes all.
From CSK, those selected were Morkel, Hayden and Raina while from Punjab it was Yuvraj, Irfan and Mahela. CSK lost both wickets in only 5 balls giving a target of 10 runs which Punjab easily achieved.
