Alam Ara movie which is the first Indian movie which has sound is completing its 80th Anniversary today. Its the latest Google Doodle for India.
Alam Ara movie which means The Light of the World was made in 1931 and was directed by Ardeshir Irani was the first Indian talkie movie.
Earlier movies like Raja Harishchandra and others were there – but with no sound. Raja Harishchandra movie was the first Indian movie though.
Cast of this movie included Master Vithal, Zubeida ,Jillo, J. Sushila (as Sushila), Prithviraj Kapoor, Elizer, Wazir Mohammed Khan, Jagdish Sethi and L. V. Prasad.
