A massive, 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti near the capital of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January 12th. Â The damage to buildings is extensive and the number of injured or dead is very high.
Haiti saw a complete devastation few days back due to a massive earthquake resulting in loss of 200000 people. The entertainment world responded to help and contribute for the relief of affected ones. Many celebrities cam ahead and donated huge sums of money. George Clooney said that “It’s a big world out there, and we all have a lot of responsibility to help out people who can’t help themselves”. Leonardo Di Caprio came ahead and gave a donation of whooping amount of 1million dollars. In the similar fashion Sandra bullock, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, George Clooney donated 1 million $.
This show was aired yesterday and it was one of the widest distributed prime time telecast appearing simultaneously on 25 networks. Coming to the funds collected in Telethon, no official statement has been made till now but as per CBC News almost 16million$ has been collected and its coming and the phone line are still opened for contribution. One can contribute anything starting from 25$.
