Katie Spotz at only 22 years age become the world’s youngest person to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She travelled 2,817 miles in almost 70 days to achieve this accomplishment.
She started her journey on Jan. 3 from Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa and had planned on arriving in Cayenne, French Guiana. However, Spotz altered her course earlier this month.
On the 70th day, She told that her boat caught fire and – ” My tracker unit has been acting up and took its final farewell up in smoke. I quickly grabbed the fire extinguisher and, being so close to land, I didn’t plan on taking any other course of action. Thankfully, all the glitches and malfunctions seem to be happening in the final days”
When the last four miles were left, Guyana prepared to welcome Katie to Georgetown, as she was tracked by the Coast Guard boat and a helicopter.
Thanking to everybody she told that – ” I am so thankful to all of the people who followed my journey and sent me encouraging messages, but especially for their donations and support for safe drinking water, which were inspirations for the row,”
